Agggghhhhh!!! I got a job working backstage as a dresser for a fashion show. I havnt a clue exactly what im doing or how to do it but im so excited. It has meant an early departure from my hometown but the rolling hills and stony clay soil were getting old anyway. I promised myself this year that I would take a few chances and try and concentrate on getting as much experience as possible so here goes nothing. In a completly unrelated topic Kate Moss is launching her autumn winter collection for Topshop tomorrow. The collection follows the current grunge trend ripped, shredded and torn. Check these items out if only I wasnt paying back so much debt.

Edie Sedgwick

If there was one person in the world I could be id have little hesitation in whom I would choose. Enter Factory Girl Edie Sedgwick. Ubiquitously dubbed as " The girl with the black tights" Edie revolutionised understated fashion glamour with a modern edge. The dress sense was simple opaque tights , chandelier earrings and heavy kohl eyeliner became the signature pieces in Edies wardrobe. Her life was hallmarked with endless parties, countless lovers and a perpensity for self destruction. As Patti Smith once remarked " She was such a strong image that I thought, 'Thats it'. It represented everything to me, radiating intelligence, speed, being connected with the moment" Her life may have ended tragically but her spirit and influence forever lives on.

In the style of

Kaya Scodelario otherwise known as Effy on E4s hit show Skins embodies classic British rock. What makes Effys style so appealing is the fact that we probably all own the key components of her look in our wardrobe. Gok would be proud, this isnt about running to the high street and flashing your laser card. Black boots. Check. Chunky jewellery. Check. Oversized tops. Too many to mention. She does what the British do best and thats rock. Undoubtedly her style is provocative but is carried well by Effys blasse attitude. Trying to carry this trend isnt about ripping every pair of tights you own or investing in multiple sex pistols tees but is more about confidence. Theres no point in walking into a club Effy outed and then preceding to spend the night casting glances at yourself in the mirror wondering if showing your underwear was really the right decision. If your bold and bad enough then fuck it and dont forget the eyeliner!!

Trendz

Finally a trend I can afford. If your anything like me your wardrobe is cluttered with shredded, laddered and ripped tights. Well its finally time to regurgitate the 1990s grunge trend. And about time too I can finally go to the pub again without having to strategically position myself.
I think the key to getting this trend right is to avoid the tween emo look take some inspiration form the catwalk of Alexander Wang and dare I say it Miley Cyrus. Team your tights with a black mini and printed tee for perfect neo grunge chic.

Oooh Futuristic

Wow check these. Born into a shoe dynasty (Raphael Youngs uncle designed shoes for YSL) Young combines traditional shoe making techniques with physics and mechanism to produce these architectural pieces. Its certainly fashion for the fierce something id imagine Lady Gaga to adorn or feature in a modern day comic strip. The space age silhouettes are founded on the principles of balance, harmony, realistic materials and lines of force which translate to make these metallic leathers a to die for item. Move over Jimmy Choo.
