You can call me goldie

I love Karen O. In other news iv been messing around on polyvore and thought id share some of my creations. Erin Wasson is beautiful and talented, I tried to hate, her really I did but she seems quite cool and shes brought me to this rather uncomfortable realisation that some people really do have it all.Hmpf.A futuristic amalgation of District 13 and Sin City may not be the safest bet for mankind but damn for fashion it should be the way forward!

Master technique and then forget about it and be natural

Laura and Kate Mulleavy of Rodarte are the driving force behind the costumes of Darren Aronofskys upcoming film Black Swan. The sisters have long been obsessed with the horror genre and Black Swan has provided the designers with a gateway to fuse dark and bold forces with the enchanting, to create pieces that scream drama. The first pics from the film have been released, they may have been ten years in the works but if the rest of the costumes are anything like these it was worth the wait.

Im stealing back my same old used- to- be

I re-discovered Janis Joplin today. I watched a documentary called the Final 24 which details her last 24 hours alive and I started to relate to her more. She was plagued by self destructive behaviour, the quintessential story of growing up in small backward no name America, never loving herself. Its weird with celebrities strip down the glamour, take away the fame and the issues are usually cultivated at an early stage. Her style was anything but normal she was as Vogue dubbed " the most staggering leading woman in rock", when it came to accessories it was excessive of course, piles of bangles, fur hats, feathered hair, velvet bell bottoms- it was no holds no cares fashion. Janis took a left out of normal town and kept driving.

She was the free wheeling pioneer of the 60s, her style was outlandish, jumbled somewhat but carefree. I think the reason people identified with her so much was her demeanour- underneath the bravado, the non stop show, was the real music so uncut, so raw and pulsing you just forget everything for a moment.

Now that iv finished the shortest biography ever to be written about Janis (available in bookstores September 1st) you have to check out Alison Porters cover of Cry Baby I dont usually promote covers but this is quite brilliant! And yes she was the cutie from Curly Sue!

Ssssshhhhhhh just listen

Money is Freedom?

Im once again entertaining thoughts of buying clothes I cannot afford. Ebay has quickly turned into my garden of eden playground. Lately, I cant stop thinking about the outfits il wear and how much they will change my life...now this can be attributed to a number of things 1) Iv been staying up till three watching What Not To Wear 2) Im in the countryside for a week and am developing dissociative disorder 3) Im quite attached to the idea that a new outfit will allow me to find a new job which will in turn allow me once again to buy a new outfit. Yeah I know it doesnt make sense.

Look at the punk 1980s leather dress. How fierce is that...and that leather skirt from topshop! I shall swan around the fields and chase sheep while someone photographs me for Lookbook. That whimsical running around forests with a photographer is quite vogue these days. Ebay will be the ruination of me. I came to the countryside to flee from the evil temptations of the city and save money. Yet here I am plotting an escape from home new, improved and better dressed.

I only get my rocks off while im dreaming

Some people are born in the wrong generation. I for one believe that in some former life I was a Stone. Now I must admit this will never happen for two reasons 1) I cannot sing 2) I get ahead of myself with absolutely every instrument iv tried. That said I cant help but wonder will any other period have such an impact on me as the 60s and the 70s. Perhaps I can just pretend. Therefore tomorrow I will dress like im heading to Woodstock, I will sing the Grateful dead for all those who dont have ears and I will drop "sock it to me" like its coming back into fashion.

The Bold Shoulder

There are no other words for Alexandre Vaulthiers Summer 2010 collection other than it has presence. What I love about it is the fluid motions of the garments as they move down the catwalk, the nearest thing to watching water spill down the runway. Sticking to classic colours Vaulthier inspires in brilliant naval skimming daring array. More importantly though Vaulthier is a former law student who moved into fashion, perhaps theres hope for me yet!

The Sounds of my Summer

Less is More

Wow Im just back from the Donegal town festival, who knew smaller town festivals could match up to my experience of electric picnic!!! At the moment im living my life on a shoestring budget. Im trying to do everything I can to have the best summer possible on little to nothing. This philosophy too has been extended to clothes,I think my concept of whats fashionable has changed over the past year...last year I used to hang out at the usual high street suspects, this has now been morphed to accomodate my fathers wardrobe and the world of ebay. I guess thats what I love the most about fashion the creativity it can breed. If Jay Z and Beyonce can spend a night in the Premier Inn then I can certainly put in that little bit of extra time to find the perfect purchase.

I was running around Urban Outfitters a couple of days ago and found a lace top in the lingerie section for a mere 12 euro...Im quite loving the outerwear underwear trend within reason of course....thats when I saw the Kaya Scodelario photoshoot in In Style UK, check it out im rather inspired!Theres something rather empowering about the whole thing Rihanna for one looks like shes about to conduct some futuristic invasion of the world its great to see women embrace there sexuality.
